Stump Grinding & Removal in Napa, Sonoma & Lake Counties
A leftover stump is more than an eyesore. It’s a tripping hazard, it gets in the way of mowing and landscaping, and it can sprout or attract pests. Denbar Tree Service grinds stumps below grade, so you can replant, landscape, or build on the spot.
We’re based on Howell Mountain in Angwin and work on residential, vineyard, and rural properties throughout wine country.

What Stump Grinding Involves
A grinder cuts the stump and the top of the root system into wood chips, down below ground level. That’s faster and less disruptive than digging a stump out, and it leaves the surrounding ground largely undisturbed.
We grind:
-
Stumps left after a tree removal, whether ours or someone else’s
-
Old stumps from past removals or storm damage
-
Stumps near fences, patios, driveways, and foundations
Why Remove a Stump

Replanting. A new tree or garden can go in the same spot.

Frequently Asked Questions
Can I plant right after grinding?
Yes, though many people backfill with soil and wait, or plant in a nearby spot.
What about the roots?
Grinding takes out the stump and the upper roots. Deeper roots are left in the ground and break down over time.
How is stump grinding priced?
It varies by stump size.
Do you grind stumps from trees someone else removed?
Yes.
